The Verzasca Valley is located in the canton of Ticino (Ticino) a few kilometers from Locarno and above the Lake Maggiore. The valley is world famous with its picturesque villages and rustici, e.g. Corippo, which represents a past and beautiful rough-wild characteristic. The river Verzasca gives its name to the whole Valley. Its emerald-green color, which appears from turquoise-green to blue over the rocky boulders, are simply an eye-opener of this never-tiring mountain river. In the summer time you can use different access points for swimming and jumping in the fresh green river (caution is required).
IL PONTE DEI SALTI (Roman bridge) is the most famous place (Lavertezzo) in the Verzasca valley. The bridge stretches over an azure piece of water where the most brave from all over the world can jump from the bridge, or swim in the natural pool. IL SENTIERONE (Historical walking trail): The Verzasca Valley is a paradise for hikers, famous for its peace and comfort, without cable cars, large hotels or huge crowds, in contrast to other alpine regions.
There are hiking possibilities for experts as well as for families with children, which take from up to 1 hour to 1 day, as for ex. the hystoric-cultural tour that crosses the entire Verzasca valley. You can also go through sections which really are very charming and fascinating. LA DIGA DI CONTRA (Dam220m/722ft): Here is also the highest bungee jumping facility (180m/591ft jump) in Europe, known from the James Bond Film Golden Eye of 1995.
